Macro photographs of a wolf spider.

This is a group of macro pictures of a wolf spider with an egg sack. I took these pictures with a Canon 5d Mark II camera. I used an MP-E 65mm lens. Wolf spiders are not really aggressive but will bite if harassed. They are not dangerous to humans but will cause a painful bite.

I found this mother carrying her egg sack on the ground.  I took a few pphotographs and then released her on her way.  The Canon MP-E 65mm 2.8 1x-5x macro lens is one of my favorite lenses.  I get some really cool macro photography shots from it.

I am not sure what the red part in the above photograph is.  It may be a venom gland.

These arachnids are quite common in Texas.  I found a few of these each week it seems.  During the warmer months I find them crawling through the grass.

Macro shots of Dimorphic Jumping Spider

These are several macro photographs of a female Dimorphic Jumping Spider. These spiders are quite shy and will attempt to jump away if they encounter any threats. The female has red stripes which makes them a somewhat pretty species to see.You can see more pictures of this Female Dimorphic Jumping Spider at http://www.gather.com/viewSlideshow.action?albumId=32030

Alligator Snapping Turtle pictures

These are some pictures of my Alligator Snapping Turtle. These are one of the coolest turtles around. The largest freshwater species of turtle in the world. I plan to do some better photographs in the future.

MP-E 65mm macro photographs of flower

This is my latest series of MP-E 65mm macro photographs of flowers. I use this lens on a Mark 5D II with a Canon MT-24EX twin flash. I find that macro photography is my favorite type of photography. The Canon MP-E 65mm lens is a must for anyone interested in doing extreme macros.

Macro pictures of a Mediterranean Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus)

These are a few macro shots of a Mediterranean Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) I captured with an MP-E 65mm lens and a Sigma 180mm. A Canon MT-24EX twin flash was used as well.

Macro photographs of maggots

These are several macro photographs of maggots I shot using my Canon Mark 5D II camera and a Canon MP-E 65mm lens. I also used a Canon MT-24EX twin flash. To do any real macro photography you need to have either a twin flash or a ring flash. I prefer the twin flash for its flexibility.  You can find more pictures of these mggots at http://www.gather.com/viewSlideshow.action?albumId=31903
