Stone Creek Park Flower Mound Texas Photography

My wife was looking for a new place to do some photography of our kids. She came across Stone Creek Park in Flower Mound Texas. Little did we know that such a beautiful park was less than 10 miles from our house. This little hidden park was tucked away right along my route home from work. I literally drove by this park every day for 2.5 years and never knew it was there. The Stone Creek Park is popular for photography because of the unique rock formations and flowing streams not normally found in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Two things you need to be aware of before visiting or doing any sort of photography in Stone Creek Park. The first is that there is Poison Ivy. I found many Poison Ivy plants growing along the trail. There is a path down to the creek which is clear and allows you access without brushing into any plants. Since Stone Creek Park is popular for photography, you will also need to be aware that you may have other people playing by the creek or taking photographs. Please be courteous to other people and share the creek with others enjoying it. These are some photographs I took at Stone Creek Park.

Ammunition photography

These are some photographs of ammunition I did over the weekend.  Some 9mm, 7.62, 44, .22, 30-30 and 30-06.  I photographed them using my Canon 5d Mark II with a kit lens and an Alien Bee 800.  It's been a long time since I I have gone out shooting.  I need to go out this year.  I want to do some more shots of the ammo but I didn't have time this weekend with the kids around and the Superbowl coming on.

Little fishing boy photographs

These are some photographs of my little boy in a fishing outfit.  He is just under 6 months old.

This is a photo session I did with my son on Sunday.  These were shot in Keller in a friends backyard.  I shot the photographs with a Canon 5D Mark II using an Alien Bee flash unit.

Tulips photography

These are some of my favorite Tulip photographs I have taken.  A few years back In Grapevine Texas, they planted Tulips everywhere.  I went around town photographing them.  This was one of my first times to go out and photograph Tulips.  I have photographs some more after but none were as impressive to me as these.

Peggy's Cove photographs

A few years back while vacationing in Nova Scotia my family went to Peggy's Cove.  Peggy's Cove is a  small rural community located on the east shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality.  This spot offers great photographs.  The bay scenes include old worn boats, houses and a fantastic landscape.

Beautiful sunset photographs

These are a couple of my favorite sunset photographs I have taken over the last few years.  The first one was taken in August from the dam on Lake Grapevine.  There was little to no editing done to the image.  This was the most impressive fiery orange sky I have ever seen.

The next sunset photograph was taken on Lake Fork in October.  Some editing was done in Adobe Lightroom.  The sunset was pretty impressive.

The last sunset photograph was taken over Lake Worth.  It is an HDR photograph and was heavily edited in Photomatix.  I love how the photograph turned out even though it is not very close to what the scene really looked like.

All of these photographs were taken on a Canon 5D Mark II.  A tripod was used for all three because of low light conditions and for the bracketing process for HDR in the third shot.

Jumping Spider photographs

These are some macro photographs of jumping spiders.  Jumping Spiders are very common throughout the world.  These small arachnids are named because they are quick and like to jump to capture prey and escape danger.  Jumping spiders come in many different sizes colors and shapes.  Jumping spiders have incredible eyesight and are very alert.  These arachnids hunt by sight.  When one of these spiders sees movement they will generally turn towards the movement or sometimes shy away if they sense danger.

Jumping spiders are mostly harmless to humans.  Most are not aggressive and will not bite unless harassed.  You can handle most jumping spiders without fear of being bitten.

I dont not know what exact species most of these are.  I took these macro photographs of jumping spiders in Texas.  Some were found in Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth.

I shot these pictures on a Canon 5D Mark II with either a Sigma 180mm or a Canon MP-E 65mm 1x-5x lens.

My favorite photographs are the first three where the jumping spider is on some pink colored flowers called Red Yucca.  The jumping spider had actually caught another jumping spider and was eating it.  I got a few photographs before the jumping spider got scared and dropped his meal.  This was my first time to see a jumping spider eating another spider.

I shot these three photographs of jumping spider in Farmers Branch Texas in Gussie / Waterworth Park.  Every year the park is full of flowers and roses.  I usually find a lot of insects to photograph in this park.  This was the first time I have seen a jumping spider eating another spider.
